Community radio stations require a wide variety of talents and provide an unusual opportunity to create and manage a small segment of the station's activities. Personal rewards are abundant not only from the satisfaction of doing a small assignment very well but seeing the cumulative effort of all volunteers performing a unique service to their community.  Grass roots radio is fun to be a part of and you can set your own hours in most segments of volunteering.  Whatever your skills, we most likely have a part time position that you will feel comfortable doing.  The following list are our current needs but as we expand, there will be many other activities for  people to be a part of.

Becoming a DJ

For those with a solid knowledge of any genre of music and a natural ability in public speaking might find a disc jockey position enjoyable.  We will provide training and guidance in creating a specific show.

Creative Writer

Those with a natural ability to put facts and figures into words will find underwriting announcements and program intro's to be an enjoyable challenge.  We have specific regulations on what we can and can't say as a public radio effort and volunteers are needed to assist us in creating legal sponsor identifications.

Show Researcher

On air talent need help in finding facts, figures, interesting stories and general information that help make a program unique.  If you enjoy searching for information, love finding the obscure and feel a sense of satisfaction on locating hard to find information you will enjoy teaming up with our on-air talent in creating interesting programs.

Membership Secretary

Many people have a natural ability at organizing information and keeping track of lists.  Our membership secretary will be responsible to keep our mailing list, draft and mail thank you notes and maintain a list of contributions and payment options that members have selected.

Business Assistant

Like any commercial enterprise, community radio stations are a complicated business that require people that are good at detail.

We have licenses and contracts that need to be tracked and appointments that have to be kept.  Our business office is similar to any small enterprise and our management staff always need help in handling correspondence, placing orders for supplies and  help in general filing and organization.

Technician

All equipment needs tender loving care, cleaning heads, keeping cables and supplies organized and ready for remotes and making sure the right hardware is available for each scheduled event.

Production Assistant

Guest talent will need help in 'running the board' and setting up recording equipment to make a show run smooth.  We will train individuals on our specific hardware and how to maximize its capabilities.

Website Assistant

Every day we will be adding current information to our website.  If you have good typing skills and are generally familiar with computers you might find website work interesting.  Daily information requiring updates will include 'Tradio" items for sale, birth and death announcements,  school lunch menus, lost and found information, community calendar items and general site updates.

Public Service & Community Relations

Those that have worked in advertising, marketing or public relations would be a great asset to us as we seek to serve the population in our listening area.  You will be assisting us promote our programming and conducting research into public needs and helping us interpret that data into new directions and programs

Receptionist

You only get one chance to make a good first impression and the receptionist is usually the first stop for visitors and on-air guests.  This position is the host of everyone coming and going thru the studios.  It is one of the most important positions in any radio station.  If you have a natural talent to make people feel at home you might really find this position rewarding .  Contact us for a tour and highlights of this activity.

If you are interested in getting involved with Community Radio, please take time to create a resume and call Harv Twite at (505) 630-5000 for an appointment.
